3 migrant laborers killed, 3 injured in terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir

Kashmir:Three migrant laborers were killed and three others injured in a terrorist attack on a labor camp near Sonamarg in Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Sunday evening. The report said two workers died on the spot and another died on the way to the hospital. Other injured have been taken to a nearby hospital. Confirming the incident, police said, “Terrorist incident in Gagangir, Ganderbal. Security forces have cordoned off the area. Further details will be given later. This is the second terrorist attack on migrant laborers in the last three days in the valley. The bullet-riddled body of a non-local laborer named Ashok Chauhan was found in Zainapora Shopian area on Friday, reports said, adding that terrorists attacked a camp of workers engaged in building tunnel in Gangangir near Sonamarg in central Kashmir. Security forces have been dispatched to the area where a terrorist is reported to be trapped.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wrote on Twitter: “Very sad news of the cowardly and dastardly attack on non-local laborers in Gagangir of Sonamarg area. These people were working on a major infrastructure project in the area. 2 people have been killed and 2-3 others have been injured in this terrorist attack. “I strongly condemn this attack on unarmed innocent people and express my condolences to their loved ones.” PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said: “I unequivocally condemn this senseless act of violence against two laborers in Ganderbal.”

Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra said: “Such incidents will vitiate the atmosphere,” he said, urging the government to take immediate steps to stop such brutal attacks on innocent labourers. CPM leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said: “The extremely disturbing news of yet another terrorist attack on migrant laborers has emerged from Ganderbal. Barely 48 hours ago, a non-local laborer was murdered in Shopian. These despicable attacks appear to be a deliberate attempt to disturb peace. The culprits should be punished.”
