3 Upcoming New Electric Cars From Company That Owns Jeep And Citroen

Jeep and Citroen are two recognizable brands in India. One is American while the other is French. Both are now owned by Stellantis. It is now preparing to launch multiple electric vehicles in India, but not with Jeep and Citroen badges. Instead, Leapmotor, a new brand under the group, is being prepared to debut in India. It is essentially a Stellantis-led 51:49 joint venture with the Chinese company, where Stellantis has exclusive rights for exporting, selling and manufacturing these EVs outside China. Leapmotor International is expected to launch three EVs in India in the coming years.

The T03 is already on sale in markets like China. It also happens to be the only model in Leapmotor’s lineup that’s offered only as an EV. All other models are also available as range-extender hybrids. In February 2025, the Chinese-spec T03 got an update that made it even more appealing. This electric SUV will come packed with features like a large touchscreen infotainment unit, sunroof, and even level 2 ADAS.

In China, this EV has a starting price of RMB 59,900 (roughly Rs 7.8 lakh). If Stellantis pulls off a similar price in India, this EV will turn out to be a strong rival to the Tata Punch.EV. Two variants are available globally, powered by 31.9 kWh and 41.3 kWh LFP battery packs. These have claimed range figures of 310 km and 403 km, respectively. It remains to be seen if the same batteries will be offered in India as well.

When launched, the Leapmotor C10 will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE6, Maruti e-Vitara, and MG Windsor EV. The upcoming Tata Sierra EV will also likely be one of its rivals. In May last year, the updated C10 debuted in China with an improved, minimalist cabin and a long line of features. It will have a 14.6-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker audio, two-spoke steering wheel and more.

The new C10 is based on an 800V high-voltage architecture. The 2026 C10 has a 74.9 kWh battery pack, with a CLTC range of 605 km. It is claimed to be able to charge from 30% to 80% in just 16 minutes. The electric motor on this e-SUV generates 295 hp and the SUV can sprint to 100 kph in just 5.9 seconds- a noticeable increase over the previous model’s 0-100kph timing.

In China, the C10 is available as a range-extender hybrid as well. This version comes with a 1.5L petrol engine and a 28.4 kWh battery pack. It is unclear if it would be brought to India as well.

The third product is the B10 compact SUV. It has a starting price of 99,800 yuan (roughly Rs 13.93 lakh). In terms of design, it has Leapmotor’s family cues. It comes in seven colour options. Like other Leap models, the B10 is also tech-packed. It comes with power adjusted seats, 12-speaker audio, 360-degree camera, 15W wireless phone charging bays, and more.

Forming the B10’s base is the Leap 3.5 modular platform. It has an 800V high-voltage system and comes with two battery options- 56.2 kWh and 67.1 kWh. The former has a claimed range of 510 km per charge while the latter offers 600km. Both CLTC figures. These battery packs excel with their charging speeds as well.

Stellantis is targeting India’s fast-growing EV segment with Leapmotor. The above three EVs will be brought to our shores in the initial phase. These, as you can see, are placed in high-demand segments with high competition. Leapmotor has been able to scale rapidly in the Chinese market. Under the Leapmotor International joint venture, Stellantis will have complete operational control, courtesy of its 51% stake.

Jeep and Citroen brands will play key roles in bringing Leapmotor to India. Stellantis will use the manufacturing capabilities, supply chains and dealership networks of these brands to support Leapmotor in the initial stages.

Leapmotor products will be brought as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) imports initially. These will be assembled at the Stellantis plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. This will allow Stellantis to save on import duties and keep overall costs under check. Based on demand, localisation levels may go up in the future.

And for retails, Leapmotor will initially rely on multi-brand Stellantis dealerships. We expect the first Leapmotor product to launch in late 2026 or early 2027.
