304 wickets, economy of 8… Entry of deadly bowler in SRH, how is the recent form?
Before the start of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has announced the replacement of Jack Edwards. Australia’s bowling all-rounder Edwards was ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a leg injury. SRH has included David Paine in his squad in his place. 35 year old David Paine is a left arm fast bowler. He recently took 3 wickets for 18 runs in the final of the Big Bash League (BBL) and made Perth Scorchers the champion.
David Paine, who has played one One Day International for England, has so far taken 304 wickets in 233 matches in T20. During this period his economy has been 8.03. This fast bowler, who is adept at bowling ‘slow ball’, also won the ILT20 title with Desert Vipers this year. David Paine has played 115 matches in first class cricket. Now he has left red ball cricket and focused on T20 and has given a new direction to his career.

Cummins is not available in the initial matches
SRH captain Pat Cummins will not be able to play in the initial matches of IPL 2026. He is recovering from injury and will take some time to be fully fit. In his absence, Ishan Kishan has been given the command of the team. With Cummins unavailable and Edwards out, SRH’s fast bowling unit looked weak. In such a situation, the arrival of David Paine will strengthen SRH. SRH are scheduled to face defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season-opening match on March 28.
