3200 health sub-centres will open in Bihar, good news for citizens!
Patna. The Bihar government has announced an ambitious plan to strengthen primary health services in the state. Under the scheme, 3200 new health sub-centres will be opened in various districts of the state. The objective of this initiative is to provide timely and better health facilities to the people living in rural and remote areas.
At present, about ten thousand health sub-centres are active in Bihar, which are doing work like maternal and child health, vaccination, family planning, screening of common diseases and health awareness. These sub-centres have played an important role in promoting institutional deliveries, improving the health of children and mothers and reducing malnutrition.
In view of the increasing population and increasing demand for health services, the need for new sub-centres was felt. According to the Health Department, the proposed sub-centres will be developed as per modern standards. In these, availability of clean buildings, drinking water, electricity, essential medicines, testing kits and trained health workers will be ensured.
At the same time, the system of providing door-to-door health services through Asha workers and ANM will be further strengthened. This will improve the rural health infrastructure and solution to many diseases will be possible at the primary level only. This will reduce the pressure on district and referral hospitals and important steps will be taken towards healthy living in Bihar.
