33rd SEA Games medal tally

Host nation Thailand is leading the 33rd SEA Games medal tally with 132 golds, while Vietnam hopes to catch up with Indonesia on the sixth competition day Dec. 15.

Vietnam will aim for a few more gold medals, when the volleyball team face hosts Thailand in the women’s final. In athletics, Nguyen Thi Oanh is also expected to bring another gold home as she competes in the 10,000m run. Vietnam’s top swimmers Nguyen Huy Hoang, Pham Thanh Bao and Vo Thi My Tien also have a high chance to secure medals.

In other sports like wushu, shooting and weightlifting, Vietnam has high hopes as the athletes are in great form.

On the medal tally, Vietnam, with 34 gold medals, are nine less than second-place Indonesia.
