35 children cut their wrists in Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, know the whole matter
The incident that took place in a government secondary school in Dahdaha village located in Kurud development block of Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh has raised the concern of the administration, parents and the education department. 35 students studying here had made cut marks on their wrists with some sharp object. This shocking incident came to light when on February 13, parents noticed old wound marks on the children’s hands and informed the school management.
The incident happened about 15 to 20 days ago
Investigation revealed that this incident had happened about 15 to 20 days ago and by now most of the wounds have healed, but such a step being taken by such a large number of students is raising serious questions. After the complaint of the parents, the school administration immediately started investigating the matter. During interrogation, the students told that they did this after seeing each other and being influenced. After this the school management informed the district administration about the matter. Tehsildar Suraj Banchhor said that the incident is not new, but had happened some time ago, but has come to light now. The administration took this seriously and immediately started action.
As soon as information about the matter was received, Tehsildar, Education Department officials and Health Department team reached the school. Doctors examined the children and talked to them. Preliminary investigation revealed that all the students are now physically healthy and their wounds have healed. However, doctors feared that mental pressure, drug addiction or some kind of collective influence could be the reason behind this. This aspect is also being investigated in depth.
Counseling was done for 35 students
In view of the situation, counseling of all 35 students was done on 16 February. Block Education Officer Chandra Kumar Sahu said that efforts are being made to strengthen the children mentally and guide them in the right direction. Also, parents and teachers have been appealed to keep a constant eye on the behavior of children and not ignore any unusual activity.
Officials say that it is not normal for so many students to behave like this together and it is very important to find out the reasons behind it. The administration, school management and health department are jointly investigating the matter in detail. At present all the students are safe and special attention is being given to their mental health, so that recurrence of such incidents can be prevented in future.
