350 crore Chrome users in danger, Google releases emergency update
New Delhi: A serious security warning has emerged regarding Google Chrome, one of the world’s most popular web browsers. Google has confirmed that two dangerous zero-day vulnerabilities have been found in Chrome which hackers are already taking advantage of. This security flaw is considered so serious that the company had to issue an emergency security update. It is estimated that about 3.5 billion Chrome users may be affected by this threat, so all users have been advised to update the browser immediately.
Zero-day flaws found in Chrome
According to the Forbes report, Google said that two serious security flaws named CVE-2026-3909 and CVE-2026-3910 have been found in Chrome. Both of these are called Zero-Day Vulnerabilities, which means that hackers can use these vulnerabilities even when the company is not fully aware of them. These flaws have been placed in the high severity category because they affect the main system components of the browser. The special thing is that by using them, attackers can run code in a user’s system or access data.
How can hackers attack?
According to the report, CVE-2026-3909 is a vulnerability related to Chrome’s graphics library system Skia. By taking advantage of this flaw, attackers can send a user to a dangerous website and run malicious code on the system from there. CVE-2026-3910 is a weakness found in Chrome’s JavaScript engine V8. This flaw could allow an attacker to execute code inside the browser via a specific HTML page. This means that even just opening a suspicious website can be risky.
Google gives reward worth crores
Google has also run a Vulnerability Reward Program to find security flaws. Under this program, security researchers are rewarded for finding vulnerabilities. According to the company, about $81.6 million has been paid under this program in the last 15 years. More than $17 million was awarded in 2025 alone. Researchers around the world are considered to have a big role in keeping the security of Chrome strong.
What should Chrome users do right now?
Google has started releasing new security updates to avoid this threat. However, this update may take a few days or weeks to reach all users. Therefore, it is important for users to check updates themselves. For this, you have to go to the three dot menu of Chrome and select Help and then About Google Chrome option. If a new update is available, the browser will download and install it. After the update, it is necessary to restart the browser so that the new security system can be fully activated.
