351 players from Manipur will participate in the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand.
Manipur: Manipur Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govinddas Konthoujam on January 20 announced that 351 players from Manipur will participate in the upcoming 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand. Addressing a press conference, Govinddas said, “Today we held a joint meeting with various sports associations to discuss the upcoming 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand from January 28.
“We had invited 23 sports associations for the meeting, but due to some communication gap, five associations could not come. We have told the representatives of the associations that the government has taken a tough decision to send all the players by air. He said Three hundred and fifty-one players from Manipur will participate in the National Sports Games, although there may be some variations in the number.
The Manipur Olympic Association had also submitted a proposed budget estimate for the Games. Govinddas said that this will be discussed with the Chief Minister soon and a decision will be taken soon. He said that the expenditure of players whose issues have not been resolved with their associations will be credited to their individual accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer.

The minister said that “Our players have always earned respect for the state. The government is providing all possible assistance to the associations and players, so that they can win maximum medals.”
