Washington Sundar Hundred in Ranji Trophy: Next month, India has to tour Australia for a five-Test series. Before this, India is playing a home Test series against New Zealand and at the same time Ranji Trophy is also being played in the country. Tamil Nadu all-rounder Washington Sundar has scored a century in the ongoing Ranji match in Delhi. Sundar was fielded to bat at number three and he took full advantage of it by scoring a century. With this century, he has also staked his claim for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Tamil Nadu, which lost the first wicket against Delhi on the score of 168, decided to field Sundar at number three. His decision proved correct when Sundar returned after scoring unbeaten 96 runs on the first day. Sundar completed his century at the beginning of the second day's play. This is only the second century of his first-class career. He made a big partnership of 232 runs with Sai Sudarshan (213) for the second wicket.

Sundar completed his century in 178 balls which included 13 fours and one six. Sundar, who batted strongly on the first day, seems to be in good form on the second day also. Despite two wickets falling in a short span on the second day, Sundar is fast moving towards completing his 150 runs.

Sundar's claim strong for Australia tour

Last time, when India defeated Australia in their home Test series for the second consecutive time, Sundar was also a part of that team. Sundar got a chance to make his Test debut in the final Gabba Test of the series and he performed brilliantly. After taking three wickets in the first innings, when India had lost six wickets at the score of 186 in the first innings, he along with Shardul Thakur (67) made an important partnership of 123 runs and 62 runs for the seventh wicket. In the second innings also, he played a quick and important inning of 22 runs in 29 balls along with taking one wicket.

In such a situation, Sundar's performance before the Australia tour has created the necessary sensation and he has strengthened his claim by scoring a century in Ranji Trophy. Now it remains to be seen how he performs in bowling. If his performance is good then he can become a headache for many players including KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin.
