Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken several important steps towards strengthening the power system and providing relief to consumers. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has laid special emphasis on keeping electricity rates stable, promoting electric vehicles (EV), encouraging the use of solar energy and increasing power generation capacity. The government says that the objective of these initiatives is to provide better facilities to the consumers and make the state self-reliant in the field of energy.

1. 20% tariff discount on EV charging
The government has taken a big decision to promote the use of electric vehicles. Now 20 per cent tariff discount will be given in electricity rates at public EV charging stations during scheduled solar hours from 9 am to 4 pm. The government believes that this will lead to greater use of available solar energy during the day, promote EV charging and also increase the use of clean energy.
2. Electricity rates did not increase for the seventh consecutive year
The state government has once again given relief to all categories of consumers and has not increased the electricity rates. This is the seventh consecutive year when the electricity tariff in the state has been kept unchanged. This decision is expected to provide relief to domestic consumers, farmers, small traders and other electricity consumers.
3. New record in power supply and production
Uttar Pradesh has made a new record in the field of electricity supply. According to the government, the state has successfully met the highest ever electricity demand of 32,673 MW. Along with this, solar energy and thermal power projects are also being expanded rapidly in the state. Thousands of MW capacity solar parks are being developed, while work on many thermal power projects is also going on at a fast pace.
4. Emphasis on green energy and modern power system
The government is working on many schemes to promote green energy in the state. Solar energy production capacity is also being increased through the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. Apart from this, the efficiency of old thermal power plants has also been improved, making power generation more effective than before. The government aims to provide clean, affordable and uninterrupted electricity in the future.
