4 Indians died in MV Golden Leo attack, India summoned Russian diplomat and expressed protest
Delhi. India has lodged a strong protest over the death of four Indian sailors in the attack on the commercial vessel MV Golden Leo in Ukraine. The Foreign Ministry summoned Russia’s ambassador-at-large Vladimir Ladanov and expressed deep concern and condemnation over the incident.
Informed of India’s objection
The Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday that the Russian diplomat was informed of India’s objection regarding the July 19 attack. India clarified that targeting of commercial shipping and resulting deaths of innocent civilians is completely unacceptable.
India expressed concern about maritime security
The ministry said such attacks affect the safety, security and stability of international maritime trade. India requested the Russian Ambassador to convey India’s concerns to its respective authorities and necessary steps be taken to avoid such incidents in future.
Attack on MV Golden Leo
According to the information, this attack on MV Golden Leo was carried out by Russia at a port in Ukraine when the ship was leaving there. Four Indian sailors died in the attack. India has reiterated that it is extremely important to ensure the safety of commercial activities on sea routes and any action that harms innocent people will be opposed.
