4 New Affordable Diesel SUVs Launching Soon: Scorpio-N Facelift To Next-Gen Creta
With strict emission norms in place, car manufacturers around the world are being forced to discontinue diesel engines. Strong hybrids and EVs are being considered as alternatives to diesel by many brands to keep their customers happy. However, there are still a few brands that are taking diesel seriously even in 2026, and here we have a list of four such SUVs with diesel engines that are getting launched in our market soon.
Scorpio N Facelift
Mahindra has been testing the facelifted version of the Scorpio N for quite some time now. The updated version, expected to launch later this year, will receive a revised front grille, updated headlamps, and new bumpers. The SUV is also likely to get a new alloy wheel design.
On the inside, the Scorpio N facelift is expected to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and more variants may be offered with Level 2 ADAS features. The SUV will continue to get the 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine with manual and automatic transmission options. Select diesel variants will also get 4×4. The petrol version will use a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit.
Scorpio Classic Facelift

The Scorpio Classic is still in demand, and just like the Scorpio N, the Classic is also expected to get an update this year. The Scorpio Classic will not get a drastic update in terms of design.
It is expected to retain the rugged and utilitarian look that people like, with minor cosmetic changes to keep it updated. Mahindra might also offer an updated infotainment system, and the prices are likely to be more or less the same as the current version.
It will continue to use the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine that generates 130 PS and 300 Nm, powering the rear wheels. The SUV will be offered with a manual transmission and limited variants only.
Mahindra Vision S

Mahindra is also testing a new sub-4-metre SUV based on the Vision S concept showcased last year. The SUV features a boxy and rugged design. The production version of the Vision S is expected to be offered with both diesel and petrol engine options. The petrol version will likely use the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine from the XUV 3XO, while the diesel version is expected to get the 1.2-litre diesel engine from the same SUV. Both diesel and petrol versions are expected to get manual and automatic transmission options.
Next-Gen Creta

The Hyundai Creta has been one of the SUVs ruling the mid-size SUV segment for over a decade now. The next-generation Creta is currently on its way, and we have already started seeing spy shots of the same online. Like the current version, Hyundai will load the SUV to the brim with premium features while pricing it competitively.
While it may get a strong hybrid petrol engine in the future, Hyundai will also offer the 1.5-litre diesel engine that it has been offering with the current version. It will be offered with manual and automatic transmission options, and it will generate 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque.
