4 New Maruti Suzuki Electric Cars Lined Up For India
Maruti Suzuki has recently launched its first electric offering, the e Vitara, in India. A lot of people were waiting for it, and now that it has arrived, it has managed to bring Maruti Suzuki into the growing EV landscape. Now, it has been reported that Maruti Suzuki, based on the success of the e Vitara, is planning to launch four new electric cars in India.
Recently, during an event, Maruti Suzuki’s Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Partho Banerjee, announced that the company is planning to launch four new electric vehicles in India by 2031. Maruti Suzuki aims to expand its EV presence in India, and the four new EV launch plans are part of the company’s mid-term strategy for the EV presence expansion.
Maruti Suzuki, which is currently the largest ICE carmaker, is planning to become the leading player in the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) segment by 2031. Its strategy includes entering multiple segments such as SUV, MPV, hatchbacks, and premium. Currently, the company has only one electric vehicle in the line-up, which is the e Vitara, and based on the HEARTECT-e platform, the company aims to launch more EVs in the country.
So far, within two months of launch, the e Vitara has become India’s highest exported electric vehicle in FY26. Over 25,000 units of this electric SUV have been exported to over 44 countries. The company aims to export e Vitara to 100+ global markets.

Of the four new EVs that are in the pipeline, the YMC 7-seater electric MPV will become Maruti Suzuki’s second electric vehicle offering in India. This vehicle will be designed for family and fleet usage and will compete with electric MPVs such as the BYD eMax7, Kia Carens Clavis EV, and the soon-to-be-launched VinFast VF MPV 7.
It will utilise the same HEARTECT-e platform, which has been co-developed by Toyota and Daihatsu. This MPV will feature 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options, similar to the e Vitara, and offer a real-world range of around 400–500 km. The design highlights of the YMC will include Y-shaped LED DRLs, a blanked-off grille, aero-efficient alloy wheels, and a slightly bulbous, MPV-like styling.
Apart from the YMC electric MPV, the company is planning to expand its electric range by entering a sub-4m SUV segment. It will most likely be the Brezza in electric form, or maybe even the Fronx. The company has codenamed this EV as YTV. This will bring in high volume from urban buyers and will focus on affordability, range, and practicality. Once launched, it will take on the Tata Nexon.ev, which is one of the most popular electric SUVs in the country.

Next up in the launch pipeline is an affordable mass-market EV. Maruti Suzuki plans to enter the budget EV space and make EVs more accessible in India. Its target audience will be first-time EV buyers and urban commuters who use the vehicle daily. Most likely, it will be a budget EV hatchback to take on the Tata Tiago.ev and the Citroen eC3.
Lastly, the company is also planning to offer an electric vehicle in the premium or lifestyle EV segment. This vehicle will be a feature-rich EV for buyers who want the most technologically advanced electric vehicle. It will most likely offer a much bigger battery pack than the current e Vitara’s 61 kWh battery pack.
