4 relatives of bride killed in road crash during wedding trip in central Vietnam

A car carrying family members returning from a wedding ceremony collided with a container truck in central Vietnam on Dec. 9, killing four relatives of the bride and injuring nine others, including the bride and groom.

The crash occurred at about 4 a.m. on the Da Nang–Quang Ngai Expressway. The car, which had 12 people on board, was travelling from the groom’s family home in Lam Dong Province to the bride’s hometown in Ninh Binh Province when it struck the truck.

Three passengers died at the scene and a fourth died en route to hospital. The four deceased, all relatives of the bride, were aged between 37 and 76.

Nine people were injured; ages range from 23 to 55. The car’s driver, Pham Van Kieu, sustained brain injuries. The bride and groom suffered only minor injuries.

Local police are investigating the cause of the collision.
