Health Desk. Blood cancer or leukemia is a serious health problem in which there is increased production of abnormal cells in the blood and bone marrow. This disease can spread rapidly in the body if it is not identified and treated in time. Experts divide blood cancer into four stages, which reflect its severity and effect on the body.
Stage 1: Initial stage
In this stage, cancer cells are confined only to the bone marrow. Patients often experience general problems such as fatigue, mild fever, or frequent infections. If the disease is identified in this stage, the disease can be controlled with treatment.
Stage 2: Increasing influence
In stage 2, the abnormal blood cells proliferate and gradually spread to other organs such as the liver and spleen. The patient may suffer from problems like frequent infections, weakness, and weight loss. Treatment is necessary in this stage, because if timely treatment is not done, the stage can progress rapidly.
Stage 3: critical condition
In stage 3, blood cancer has spread throughout the body. The abnormal cells grow in large numbers and also affect the bones, organs and lymph nodes. Serious problems like severe weakness, frequent infections, bleeding or blue skin are seen in the patient. It is very important to pay attention to medical treatment in this stage.
Stage 4: Advanced and dangerous stage
Stage 4 is the most serious stage of blood cancer. Abnormal cells have spread to most parts of the body. The patient’s life may be at risk and treatment becomes complicated. At this stage, survival is possible only with modern methods like bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy or targeted therapy.
Importance of timely identification and treatment
Experts say that timely detection and treatment is the biggest weapon in blood cancer. Regular blood tests and not ignoring irregular symptoms can prove to be life-saving. If identified in the early stages, the disease is more likely to be controlled and completely cured.
