This bowler of Team India, who took 407 wickets, retired from cricket, had made headlines by bowling the ball at a speed of 153 Kmph.

Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron announced his retirement from all formats of cricket on Friday (January 10). He gave this information through a post on the social media platform Instagram. He made headlines by bowling the ball at a speed of 153 kilometers per hour against Gujarat in the 2010-11 Vijay Hazare Trophy final. However, he was troubled by injuries during his career.

Aaron played 9 Test and 9 ODI matches for India in which he took 18 more wickets respectively. He played his last match for India in the year 2015. However, he continued playing domestic cricket for Jharkhand.

Due to injury, Aaron retired from first class cricket in February last year. The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 match between Goa and Jharkhand on January 10 was the last match of his career. In domestic cricket, he played 66 First Class, 88 List A and 95 T-20 matches, in which he took a total of 407 wickets.

Varun wrote in his post, “For the last 20 years I have lived, breathed and thrived on the thrill of fast bowling. Today, with great gratitude, I officially announce my retirement from cricket.”

Varun was a part of the teams of Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. He played a total of 52 matches in this tournament, in which he took 44 wickets, during which his best performance was 3 wickets for 16 runs.
