Smriti Mandhana created history even after getting out for 41 runs, became the second female cricketer of Team India to do so in ODI.
Indian women's cricket team's opening batsman and acting captain Smriti Mandhana (Smriti Mandhana 4000 ODI Runs) hit 6 fours and 1 six in 29 balls in the first ODI against Ireland at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Friday (January 10). Played an inning of 41 runs. She returned to the pavilion after being caught by Orla Prendergast on the ball of Freya Sargent. Smriti also made special records during this innings.
Smriti completed her 4000 runs in ODI during this innings, becoming the second Indian women's cricketer to reach this figure. For India, only Mithali Raj has reached this figure before, she has scored 7805 runs in 211 innings of 232 matches.
Apart from this, Smriti has reached the third position in the list of players who scored the fastest 4000 ODI runs in women's ODI history. By achieving this milestone in 95 innings, she left behind South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt, who had played 96 innings for this.
Let us tell you that Mandhana is in great form and last year she had made the world record of scoring the most runs in a year in women's international cricket. Mandhana had scored 1602 runs in 2024 by combining all three formats.
