Bhopal/Read. MP constable millionaire: 50 kg of gold and silver jewellery, cash worth crores…an ordinary constable cannot earn this much from his salary. Another case of corruption has come to light in Madhya Pradesh. Where a constable with a salary of Rs 45-50 thousand became a millionaire in a few years. Lokayukta and Income Tax Department have raided the house of former RTO constable Saurabh Sharma and seized Rs 3 crore in cash, 200 kg silver worth Rs 2 crore, 10 kg silver jewellery, gold worth Rs 50 lakh. Saurabh Sharma is currently in Dubai. Even officials are surprised to see a salaried RTO constable earning crores of rupees.
He was a soldier only on paper but was a favorite of ministers and officials. Saurabh was responsible for more than half of the RTO check posts in Madhya Pradesh. He kept track of the goods passing through this check post. He also used to decide the percentage of other inspectors and officers posted at the check post (MP constable millionaire). Senior officials said that Saurabh had privatized the government check post. He had given this check post on contract. There was a fixed amount of money for each day at each check post. He himself used to take this money from the check post. Before July 1, 2024, there were a total of 47 traffic checkposts in Madhya Pradesh, out of which Saurabh was in-charge of 23 checkposts.
From 2016 to 2023, governments and ministers kept changing, but Saurabh had fearless access to the bungalow of every government and every transport minister. Illegal recovery was being done at the check post. He received many complaints but no one approached Saurabh to investigate. When investigation began against him, he resigned in 2023. The rule is that the resignation of someone against whom investigation is going on cannot be accepted. But still Saurabh's resignation was accepted. Transport Department officials said that even after his resignation, he continued to visit the minister's bungalow.
While Lokayukta's action was going on at Saurabh's hideouts, on the night of 19 and 20 December, the Income Tax Department team seized 52 kg gold rings and Rs 11 crore in cash from a car in Mendori forest. This car is said to belong to Chetan Gaur. Investigation revealed that Chetan and Saurabh are friends. People close to the former constable told on the condition of anonymity that he used to do commission at the check post with the blessings of his bosses in the transport department (MP constable millionaire). He has acquired huge wealth through illegal extortion at check posts. When his lifestyle and other things started changing, many people became suspicious. After this he resigned from the government job.
Saurabh Sharma worked for a few years at a salary of only Rs 40-50 thousand and resigned from the job a year ago. Lokayukta police seized 60 kg silver, jewelery worth about Rs 1 crore and Rs 3.25 crore in cash from his house. When the media reached Saurabh Sharma after the raid on his house, no one believed that the house of a former constable could be so luxurious. Apart from cash, gold worth Rs 50 lakh and about 60 kg silver has been seized from the house of Saurabh Sharma located in the posh Arera Colony. Apart from this, documents related to properties have also been found which are being investigated. Seven note counting machines were also found in his house.
