5 foreigners arrested in Bangkok for unlicensed hairdressing
Four South Korean and one Myanmar nationals were arrested this week for working jobs reserved only for Thai citizens.
Following a police raid on a hair salon along Sukhumvit Road, the five individuals, aged between 24 and 33, were detained on Tuesday for engaging in hairdressing, an occupation legally reserved for Thai nationals, the Bangkok Post reported.
According to authorities, all five individuals had entered Thailand on 90-day visa waivers issued for tourism purposes, The Nation reported.
Hairdressing is specifically reserved for Thai nationals, said Prasat Khemaprasit, commander of Immigration Division 1 police, adding that foreigners coming to Thailand on tourist visas cannot be employed at any job.
