5 New Renault And Nissan Mid-Size SUVs Launching Soon

This year and the upcoming year of 2027, Renault and its strategic partner Nissan will be launching not one, not two but a total of 5 new SUVs in India. All of these will help shoot up the sales figures of these companies which have been struggling in the Indian automotive market for a while now. So without any delay here all the details of the upcoming Renault and Nissan SUVs that have been lined up for launch in India.

Renault has already launched the new generation Duster in India. However, it is yet to launch the strong hybrid version of this SUV. What is more impressive is that just on the basis of the powertrain details which it announced at the time of the launch of the Duster, it has managed to sell out the 2026 production allocation for India in just a few weeks of pre-bookings.

The Duster hybrid will be special because of its powertrain. It will come offered with a 1.8-litre, four cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a primary electric motor which will make 49 bhp and 20 bhp producing High-Voltage Starter Generator (HSG). It will also get a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. In total it will make 160 bhp and 172 Nm peak of torque and an 8-speed automatic. It is expected to offer 24 to 26 kmpl mileage and launch around Diwali festive season this year with a pricing in the range of Rs 19 to 25 lakh.

In addition to the Duster hybrid, Renault is also gearing up to the launch of the Boreal. For those who may not be aware, it will be the 7-seater version of the already on sale Duster. This SUV will be based on the Duster but will be featuring a longer wheelbase to accommodate the third row of seats. Additionally, it will look slightly different in terms of design to differentiate between the two siblings.

As for the powertrain, the Boreal will remain identical to the Duster. This means that too will be offered with the same 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine 163 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. It is also expected to get the same 1.8-litre strong hybrid powertrain mentioned above as well. Most likely it will be launched before the end of this year with pricing in the range of Rs 15 to 25 lakh. Once launched it will be rivalling the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari.

Based on the same platform, Nissan is also gearing up to the launch of its mid-size SUV Tekton in India. This SUV has already been teased and it has been noted that it will take its design inspiration from the flagship Nissan Patrol SUV. The Tekton was expected to arrive this month in India. However, due to logistical issues, its launch has been delayed.

The new Tekton will help Nissan in re entering the mid-size SUV segment in which it once competed with the Terrano. Like the Duster, the Terrano will also be offered with the same 1.3-litre turbo petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines. Features will include 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, ADAS Level 2, 360 degree camera and many others. Pricing of the Tekton will be around Rs 11 to Rs 19 lakh.

The first strong hybrid vehicle from Nissan India will be the Tekton hybrid. This SUV just like the Duster will come powered by the same 1.8-litre strong hybrid powertrain with two electric motors. It will also make the exact same power of 163 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.

It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 19 to 25 lakh. Once launched, it will be rivalling the Duster hybrid. However, it will be mainly taking on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Victoris and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder which are currently the only three affordable mid-size SUVs in India to offer strong hybrid powertrains. The Tekton hybrid will also be challenging the hybrid versions of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos which are also about to get new hybrid powertrains.

Last on this list is the 7-seater version of the Tekton in India. Nissan just like Renault will also be offering a bigger 7-seater version of the Tekton in India. Its official name has not been confirmed as of yet. This SUV is expected to continue offering the similar design as the Tekton. However, it will be offered with some design changes to help in differentiating between the two SUVs.

Powertrain wise, it will most likely be offered with the same 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and the 1.8-litre Hybrid powertrain options. It is expected to make its debut by mid 2027 and it will most likely be priced around Rs 15 to 25 lakh. As for the rivals, it will compete with the Tata Safari, Renault Boreal, Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Hyundai Alcazar.
