New fuel will be cheaper than petrol, 5,000 flex-fuel stations will open in the country by 2027, Gadkari told a big plan

5000 Flex Fuel Station In India: The central government is going to take a big step to reduce the consumption of petrol and diesel in India and remove the burden from it. It is being told that in the coming years, the use of flex-fuel vehicles and ethanol based fuel may increase rapidly across the country. Regarding this, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has announced that the government is preparing to start about 500 flex-fuel stations by the end of this year. Not only this, a target has been set to increase their number to around 5,000 by December 2027.

Will start from these cities including Delhi, Mumbai

According to the information coming out under the government plan, in the initial phase, 50 to 100 flex-fuel stations will be set up in major cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur and depending on the demand and usage, they will also be expanded to other parts of the country. Giving information, Hardeep Singh Puri said that earlier an attempt was made to start E100 fuel station but at that time suitable vehicles were not available in the market. But now many automobile companies are launching vehicles with flex-fuel technology, which looks like a way to take this initiative forward.

What is E85 fuel and why is it special?

As you know, India has already achieved the target of 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol, also known as E20, ahead of schedule. After which now the government is working towards promoting E85 fuel. The kind of fuel which contains a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent petrol. Let us tell you that the government is trying to keep E85 cheaper than normal petrol so that more and more people can adopt it for their daily journey. The government says that this can reduce the cost of driving and also benefit the environment.

Gadkari said: It is necessary to reduce oil imports

During this initiative, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the objective of promoting flex-fuel is not only to reduce pollution but also to reduce the country’s huge oil import bill. He said that India spends about Rs 22 to 23 lakh crore every year on importing fossil fuels. In such a situation, increasing the use of domestically produced ethanol based fuel can be beneficial from both economic and strategic point of view.

In such a situation, it is believed that if this plan of the government is successful, then in the coming years, along with getting cheap fuel to Indian vehicle owners, the energy security of the country can also be strengthened. Apart from this, the increasing pollution threat in the country can also be reduced.
