5100 women got free gas connection, CM Rekha Gupta distributed Ujjwala kit – News

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta gave a big gift of health and facilities to the women of the capital and launched a special distribution campaign under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. In a dignified function held at Thyagaraja Stadium on 27th December 2025, he distributed free gas connections to 5100 eligible women. On this occasion, complete Ujjwala kit along with LPG cylinder was provided to each beneficiary. This step of the government has been taken to free women from smoke-filled traditional chulhas and to raise their standard of living. So far, 2.6 lakh families have been benefited through this scheme in Delhi, which is a major achievement in the direction of women empowerment.

The distribution took place in the presence of MP Bansuri Swaraj and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, smiles were seen on the faces of women.

Adding to the grandeur of the programme, MP Bansuri Swaraj and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa were also present on the stage. He handed over the connections to the beneficiaries with his own hands and reiterated the commitment of the government. In his address, the Chief Minister said that this scheme is not limited to providing gas connections only, but it is a powerful medium to protect the health of women and reduce household pollution. The smoke emanating from wood and coal stoves harms the lungs of women, from which they will now get relief.

Important step towards making the capital pollution free, approval given to 13 thousand new beneficiaries

Delhi government has intensified its fight against pollution and approved 13 thousand new beneficiaries. This step will prove helpful in making Delhi ‘smoke-free’. Highlighting the benefits of the scheme, it was said that the use of clean fuel will not only save women’s time, but will also provide them relief from diseases. This initiative has been taken to provide women with a respectable kitchen and a better lifestyle. This ambitious scheme, which started in the year 2016, has till now connected more than 10 crore families across the country.

Government’s big announcement for poor families, cylinder will be available for free on Holi-Diwali and for Rs 500 in other months.

While drawing the outline of future plans, the Chief Minister has announced big relief for poor families. As per the government’s resolution, poor families will now be given two cylinders absolutely free in a year on the occasion of Holi and Diwali. Apart from this, in other months of the year they will be provided gas cylinder for just Rs 500. The Delhi government has resolved that the benefits of the Ujjwala scheme will be extended to every needy household, so that the stove in the kitchen of any family does not stop burning due to financial constraints.
