Plot

Taiki Inomata is your average third-year student in junior high, the only difference is that he attends the esteemed Eimei Academy, an integrated school with a major sports program. Taiki, already sets himself to join the high school’s badminton team, going as far as in his way to show he’s dedicated by showing up to practice as early as he can.

But, no matter how early he may make it, he’s always the one to arrive second in the gymnasium instead of first. The person who is always one step ahead of him is none other than Chinatsu Kano, a first-year student in senior high and unfortunately or fortunately Taiki’s crush, the complete polar opposite of him, a popular and charismatic girl who is a part of the basketball team.

If that doesn’t make it worse, Chinatsu is the rising star of the basketball team, and the gap between her and Taiki could not be any wider than it already is. Although Taiki is a decent badminton player, his popularity is nowhere near Chinatsu’s, making it even less likely for his feelings to be reciprocated, much less the time it would take for her to even take note of his existence.

However, in a twist of faith that is as unpredictable as it gets, Chinatsu’s parents leave Japan to work abroad, and she settles in to live with Taiki instead. Therefore, Taiki has decided, that if he wants to impress his crush, he has to pursue the same dream as her, go for nationals.
