Here’s where to watch the latest docu-series about the missing ship ‘Endurance’…

New Delhi: The meaning of the term endurance is- “the ability to continue doing something painful or difficult for a long time without complaining”, as acclaimed by sites, professors, and any person in a simpler language.

But how far can one ‘endure’? How far can one go to prove their endurance- the level they can withstand something, do something difficult, just by enduring?

This is what the upcoming docu-series ‘Explorer: Endurance’, is all about. Being directed by Chai Vasarhelyi  & Jimmy Chin, the series is a production by National Geographic- covering the great leadership and perseverance of the Polar Explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, and how he was able to keep his crew of 27 men alive for a year- despite losing their ship and being stranded in nothing but cold, frigid ice.

The series is set to arrive on streaming sites DisneyStar+ and Hulu on 3rd November, 2024.

Plot

It started with a quest- a burning flame when in 1914, Ernest Shackleton decided- that the greatest Antarctic Journey hadn’t yet been done, and he could be the one to do it, to go from one side of the Antarctic continent to the other side.

It was decided then, that this quest, whether it was to succeed or to be doomed, had to be done. Ernest pursued his men- 27 of them to go with him on this quest.

The ship- named ‘Endurance’ has long been buried in the traverses of the sea, but attempts to find, to uncover, to seek have yet to halt. An attempt made in 2019 did fail, but it did not stop anyone, from finding this ship, that was named so valiantly with a courageous title- but has long sunk into the ocean’s floor and become one with it.

Ernest’s attempt had been one to be appreciated, but a wooden boat with no GPS and nothing else at the time couldn’t have achieved such a great feat. Now attempts are being remade to find this ship, to find what wreckage it had gone through- how it fell apart surrounded by nothing but the coldness of the desolate Antarctic region.
