Out of My Mind OTT Release: The coming-of-age drama ‘out of my mind’ is all set to premiere on Disney+Hotstar on 22nd November. The film is based on a 2010 novel by Sharon M Draper.

About the show

The story of the film follows the life of a 10 year old Melody who is suffering from Celebral Pelsy and is unable to feed, walk or talk on her own. Melody is dependant on others for everything.

Melody also suffers from Photographic Memory and is trapped in her body. However on the other hand she is able to feel, read and think. The 10 year old decides to change her life and do whatever she can to make it better.

However, she starts using Assistive Technology and her family’s and friend’s help to overcome from this situation in her life. She promises herself to show the world that what she has to say is more important than how she says it.

Meanwhile, she also learns how to use a communication board with her thumbs and gets a medi-talker that verbalizes her thoughts for her. She also joins her school’s quiz bowl team. However her classmates still doubt her intelligence.

The story of melody explores friendship, guilt, hope, courage, human emotions, betrayal and acceptance and trust in god’s plan. It also throws light on ability vs disability.

And how a 10 year old overcomes the challenges on her own in her life when everyone has given up on her. Meanwhile, the fim was also premiered in the 2024 Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2024.
