Asura OTT Release Date: The modern & renewed adaptation of the popular Japanese family drama Asura is all set to land on OTT digital screens this winter season.
Directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, the seven episodic series will start streaming online on Netflix on January 9th, 2024allowing fans to enjoy it right from their home’s comfort. However, one may note here that a subscription to Netflix’s services will be required to access the show on the digital streaming platform.
Plot of the Series
Asura is the intriguing tale of the Takezawa family’s four daughters Tsunako ( teacher) Makiko (homemaker) Takiko (Librarian) and Sakiko (cafe worker) whose ordinary lives take a dramatic turn when they reunite with one another on a gloomy winter day.
During the reunion, Takiko makes a shocking statement about their father Kotaro, asserting that the old man is secretly cheating on their mother Fuji by having an affair with a mistress. She does not stop here & even goes on to claim that he also has an illegitimate child with the other woman.
Taken aback by Takiko’s words for their father, all the other girls show hesitation in believing any of her allegations but eventually agree to keep everything hidden from Fuji until they find out the truth. What happens next & how this one discussion changes the lives of the entire Takezewa forever is the remaining story of the series.
Cast and Production
Jolene Kim, Rie Miyazawa, Machiko Ono, Yū Aoi, Suzu Hirose, Masahiro Motoki, Ryuhei Matsuda, Kisetsu Fujiwara, Seiyo Uchino, and Jun Kunimura among others have played pivotal roles in Asura. Yasuo Yagi has produced the Japanese family drama under the banner of Bunbuku.
