Anand Sreebala OTT Release: Anand Sreebala is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language mystery thriller directed by Vishnu Vinay in his directorial debut.
The film features Arjun Ashokan and Aparna Das in the lead roles, with supporting performances by Sangita Madhavan Nair, Saiju Kurup, Siddique, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and Aju Varghese. The film was first released on November 15th, 2024, and it received mixed reviews. While some critics appreciated its engaging storyline, others felt the execution was lacking.
The film is set to stream on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video, although no release date has yet been finalized.
Plot
In the cold showers of the rain hitting the ground, three people show up at the front of the Police Station, both drenched in the rain and distraught. Their daughter Merin, a law student has gone missing. Nobody knows of her last whereabouts, nobody knows where she is now.
After the initial report, 3 hours had passed, yet the girl was nowhere to be found. Her parents plead with the police to find her. They deny the claims of many who say she might have eloped, and truly believe their daughter has disappeared. Only sometime later, Merin’s dead body is found.
The girl was found drowned in a lake near Goshree Bridge. The police roll her death in as a suicide. But there is a common man who refuses to settle for this outcome. Anand Sreebala knows that Merin’s death wasn’t a suicide.
A girl afraid of water yet jumping into it to commit suicide was not what was the possible answer. He wholeheartedly believes that Merin was murdered and her body being found drowned in the lake was a sick ploy to hide the true crime.
When the girl’s parents find out, they file a petition in court. They request the police for a reinvestigation into the murder of their daughter. Anand’s discovery of the truth may lead to becoming a target of the murderer as well.
