Punjab News: Punjab Government as part of its commitment to provide efficient administration during the current year 2025 has made 56 smart services related to driving license and vehicle registration available 24 hours to the citizens of the state. Applicants can avail the benefits of these services from the comfort of their homes by applying online, through service centers (during office hours) or by calling the helpline number 1076.
Problems of common people reduced
Giving this information, Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the Punjab Government has provided better services to the common citizens in the transport sector for the last three and a half years, due to which the problems of the common people have reduced and corruption has also been curbed due to the adoption of a transparent process.
Services available on the department’s website
The Cabinet Minister said that these services are available 24 hours to the citizens of the state through the website of the department. He said that citizens can avail these services sitting at home through Aadhaar.
Facility will be available through speed post
He told that driving license and R.C. The facility of printing the smart card at one place in Chandigarh and sending it to the applicant’s home through speed post has been provided. Also, essential documents such as registration certificate, driving license and insurance, when preserved in digital platforms i.e. m-Parivahan and Digi-Locker and presented before the enforcement staff, have been given equal recognition as original documents.
Benefit of 21 crore free travel
Bhullar said that the Punjab government has provided the facility of free travel in government buses to the women of the state. From the year 2022-23 to 2025-26 (upto 15-10-2025), women passengers availed about 21 crore free journeys in Punjab Roadways/Punbus buses at different times, on which the State Government has spent about Rs 1157 crore.
Facility to obtain license sitting at home
The Transport Minister further said that the Punjab Government has also provided the facility of e-learner license for the citizens. Under this process, eligible citizens can get their learning license from the comfort of their home through Aadhaar without any hassle.
On-the-spot registration of new vehicles
Additionally, motor vehicle dealers in the state have also been authorized as authorized agencies to allow on-the-spot registration of new vehicles through Aadhaar. The purpose of this system is to provide relief to people from unnecessary hassles and get the registration certificate approved at the vehicle dealer level itself.
19 Volvo buses were operated
The Cabinet Minister further informed that Volvo buses have been run from Punjab to Delhi International Airport. He said that a total of 19 Volvo buses of Punjab Roadways/Punbus have been operated from various cities of the state to Delhi Airport, whose fares are much lower than private buses and these buses are providing comfortable travel facilities to the passengers.
