5Kg LPG Cylinder Without Address Proof: Amidst the deepening war clouds in West Asia, India has achieved a significant breakthrough in ensuring its energy security. Indian LPG tanker Green Sanvi has passed safely through the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz.
The ship is carrying 46,650 metric tonnes of LPG cargo which is extremely important for India’s domestic needs. This successful transit is being seen as India’s active diplomacy and strong hold in the region.
Gas will be available on one ID
At the same time, the government is emphasizing on the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to reduce dependence on LPG. More than 3.5 lakh new PNG connections have been given since March 2026. Also, it has been decided to increase gas supply to fertilizer plants to 90% of their average consumption from April 6. Small LPG cylinders (FTL) of 5 kg can now be purchased without any address proof by just showing a valid identity card, bringing great relief to migrant workers.
Big relief on petrol and diesel prices
The Central Government has taken a big step to save the common man from the abnormal increase in global crude oil prices due to the war. The government has decided to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per liter. Along with this, to ensure adequate availability of fuel in the domestic market, the government has also imposed an export levy of Rs 21.5 per liter on diesel and Rs 29.5 per liter on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF).

The government has clarified that there is sufficient stock of petrol, diesel and LPG in the country and citizens are advised not to panic or ‘panic booking’. There is no need to do it. The administration is adopting a strict stance to keep the supply system smooth.
In the last 24 hours, more than 3,700 raids have been conducted across the country against LPG hoarding and black marketing. So far, 1,000 gas agencies have been issued ‘show cause’ Notices have been issued and 27 distributors have been suspended.

safe return of sailors
The process of returning home of Indian citizens from war affected areas is also continuing at a rapid pace. According to reports, around 6,75,000 passengers have returned to India from the region since February 28. On the maritime front, more than 1,320 Indian sailors have been brought back safely so far. A group of Indian fishermen stranded in Iran are also returning home via Armenia. However, five Indian nationals were injured in an attack in Abu Dhabi, of which four have been discharged from hospital and one is undergoing treatment.
