6 seafoods men should eat regularly for sexual health

Dr. Doan Vinh Binh, M.S., of the Center for Medical Information at Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, advises that men should regularly consume high-nutrient seafood. These foods are excellent for overall health and help prevent various diseases.

Oysters

A 100 g serving of oysters contains 47.8 mg of zinc, a crucial mineral that stimulates the body to produce testosterone and improves sperm quality. Oysters are also loaded with amino acids, vitamins E and C and Omega-3 fatty acids, all of which boost metabolism and promote general health. Additionally, oysters can increase dopamine, a neurotransmitter that helps men feel excited and energized.

Salmon

Salmon is rich in Omega-3, vitamins D and B12 and high-quality protein. It helps improve blood circulation, stabilizes hormone levels and supports physiological functions. Salmon also contains the amino acid L-arginine, which the body combines with other substances to convert into nitric oxide, a compound essential for erectile function and prolonging endurance. You can cook salmon in a number of ways such as in porridge, grilled or pan-seared.

Shrimp

Shrimp contains zinc, vitamins D and B12, calcium, and L-arginine, which helps boost testosterone production, improve sperm count and quality, and build muscle. The selenium and astaxanthin found in shrimp also help men reduce fatigue and increase physical stamina.

Shellfish

Varieties such as blood cockles, hairy cockles, scallops, and clams are packed with protein and minerals like manganese, iron, selenium, and zinc. These nutrients support the production of testosterone, which plays a vital role in increasing libido and sperm production in men.

Squid and Octopus

Squid and octopus are rich in taurine, which improves endurance, enhances physical performance and reduces stress. They also have a high protein content, and are loaded with vitamins and minerals like copper, iron, EPA, DHA, selenium, and Vitamin B12. Being low in fat, they also help promote healthy testosterone production.

Abalone

Abalone provides nutrients such as zinc, iron, calcium, selenium, magnesium, and vitamins B1 and B2. It stimulates the body to produce testosterone and improves sperm quality. According to traditional medicine, abalone acts as a tonic for the kidneys, boosting virility and combating physical weakness. This ingredient can be made into soups, steamed, garlic butter grilled, or stir-fried with mushrooms.

Binh notes: while seafood is nutritious for men’s health, you should choose fresh sources with clear origins and cook them thoroughly. Aim to eat these foods two or three times a week, but do not overindulge.
