New Delhi. An incident in Kerala has once again put the country to shame. Police informed on Friday that a girl was raped by 60 people for two years in Pathanamthitta. Police have registered four FIRs and arrested six people. According to the news agency, on Friday the police said – the girl has alleged that she has been raped several times since the age of 16. The girl is now 18 years old and has narrated the story of the cruelty she faced for two years.

The matter came to light during counseling conducted by the Child Welfare Committee, when the victim's teachers at an educational institution told the panel about changes in her behaviour. Kerala Police said five people have been arrested in connection with the two FIRs lodged by the police, while another person is already in jail in another case.

Rajeev N, president of Pathanamthitta Child Welfare Committee, said the girl first reported the sexual abuse during school counselling. After which the police registered a case after the intervention of the Child Welfare Committee. After investigation of the case the accused were contacted. According to reports, the girl is a sportsperson. She was allegedly raped by her coach, classmates and local residents at sports camps and several places in Pathanamthitta. The report quoted the police as saying that the victim did not have her own phone. He has saved the numbers of about 40 people who abused him in his father's mobile.
