60% subsidy to fish farmers in Bihar, government gave good news

Patna. Bihar government has launched a new initiative to promote fisheries and conserve the traditional indigenous fishes of the state. Fish Species Diversification Scheme has been implemented for the financial year 2026-27, under which fish farming farmers and entrepreneurs will be given the benefit of up to 60 percent subsidy.

The objective of this scheme is to conserve endangered indigenous fishes, increase production and increase the income of fish farmers. The application process for the scheme has started and interested beneficiaries can apply online till 31 August 2026.

Fishermen of all districts will get benefits

The state government has implemented this scheme in all the districts of Bihar. People who want to do fish farming in a scientific manner in private or leased government ponds will be able to take advantage of this. The government believes that this will increase self-employment opportunities in rural areas and will give a new direction to fish production at the local level.

Subsidy will be available up to 60 percent

The biggest feature of the scheme is that eligible beneficiaries will be given a subsidy of 60 percent of the fixed unit cost. This will reduce the burden of initial investment on small and medium scale fish farmers and they will be able to start fishing with modern technologies. The government hopes that with more subsidies, young entrepreneurs will also come forward to invest in this sector.

There will be special emphasis on conservation of local fishes

Many traditional fish species of Bihar are decreasing with time. The objective of the new scheme is not only to increase production but also to conserve and promote these indigenous species. If the rearing of these species increases in a scientific manner, then biodiversity will also be protected and the availability of indigenous fish will increase in the local markets.
