7 schemes in the name of Atal ji, relief for common people

New Delhi: In the memory of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Central and various state governments have launched several major schemes to honor his legacy and contributions. Today, 25 December 2025, these schemes are being remembered on his birth anniversary i.e. Good Governance Day. These schemes are providing economic, social and health related relief in the lives of common people.

The 7 major schemes related to the name of Atal ji are as follows:

1.Atal Pension Yojana (APY): This scheme is a social security cover for workers in the unorganized sector. Under the scheme, a monthly pension of ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 is assured after the age of 60, thereby providing financial security to the elderly.

2.Atal Groundwater Scheme (ABY): The scheme was launched in December 2019 with an aim to improve groundwater management in water-scarce areas of the country. The scheme promotes water conservation and sustainable water management.

3.Atal Innovation Mission (AIM): AIM, NITI Aayog’s initiative to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, provides opportunities for new thinking and technological development to students and startups.

4.Atal Sneh Yojana (Maharashtra):This scheme was started to ensure the health and nutrition of newborn babies. This helps in better development and early health care of children.

5.Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Scheme: This health scheme provides free treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually to all families in the state. Due to this, poor and middle class people are feeling relief in major treatments.

6.Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT):It is a plan to improve urban infrastructure. It was launched in June 2015 for water supply, sewerage management and development of cities.

7.Atal Bihari Vajpayee Powerloom Electricity Flat Rate Scheme (Uttar Pradesh): Through this scheme, power loom weavers are given subsidy on electricity bills, which has improved their economic condition and strengthened the cottage industry.
