72nd National Film Awards 2024: Yami Gautam becomes Best Actress, Mammootty-Karthik Aryan become Joint Best Actor
The winners of the 72nd National Film Awards 2024, one of the most prestigious honors of Indian cinema, have been announced. This year, the film ‘Article 370’ produced by Aditya Dhar won the prestigious award for Best Feature Film. At the same time, ‘Srikanth’ received the award for Best Hindi Feature Film.
Yami Gautam best actress, joint honor to Mammootty and Kartik Aryan
In the acting category, Yami Gautam won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her powerful performance in ‘Article 370’. At the same time, Mammootty was jointly chosen the Best Actor in a Leading Role for the Malayalam film ‘Brahmayugam’ and Karthik Aryan for ‘Chandu Champion’.
Regional films also dominated
Films from various Indian languages also performed brilliantly at the National Awards.

- Best Telugu Film: ‘Committee Kurrollu’
- Best Odia Film: ‘Lahari’
- Best Marathi Film: ‘Mukkaam Post Bombilwadi’
- Best Manipuri Film: ‘Sunita’
Apart from this, ‘Captain Miller’ and ‘Meyyazhagan’ were awarded Special Mention.
Non-Feature Film Winners
‘Bhangaar (Obsolete)’ received the Best Non-Feature Film award in the Non-Feature Film category. Hindi film ‘Main Nida’ was adjudged the best art and culture film, while ‘Humsafar’ won the best short film.
This year was special for Indian cinema
The 72nd National Film Awards once again proved that Indian cinema continues to scale new heights on the back of diverse languages, strong stories and excellent acting. This time the prestige of the awards was further strengthened with both mainstream and regional cinema getting equal honours.
