8 coaches of goods train derail in Jamui, rail traffic completely halted – News
A major train accident took place in Jamui district of Bihar late on Saturday night, which has badly affected the traffic on the Howrah-New Delhi main railway route. Here a goods train derailed between Lahabon and Simultala stations under Asansol Railway Division. The incident occurred around 11:25 pm on December 27, 2025, when eight coaches of the goods train suddenly derailed. Thankfully, there is no news of any casualty in this horrific accident, but due to this, rail operations on both the up and down lines have come to a complete halt.
The wagons of goods train loaded with cement derailed and hung from the bridge towards the river, the accident happened with a loud bang.
At the time of the accident, this goods train was going from Jasidih towards Jhajha and was loaded with cement. As soon as the train reached kilometer number 344/05 near Barua river bridge, suddenly eight to ten of its coaches derailed. These boxes went out of control and fell down from the bridge towards the river and hung. The collision was so strong that a loud bang was heard in the surrounding area. The severity of the accident can be gauged from the fact that the railway tracks and sleepers have been badly damaged, due to which the track has been completely uprooted.
Traffic on Kiul-Jasidih railway section completely disrupted, many important passenger trains stuck at various stations.
This accident has had a wide impact on rail traffic. Movement of trains has been stopped in both up and down directions on Kiul-Jasidih railway section. Due to route disruption, many long distance passenger trains and express trains are stuck at various stations. Passengers are facing huge problems due to sudden stoppage of trains in the middle of the journey. Passengers are stranded at the stations and waiting for operations to start. Along with this, the operation of other goods trains passing through this route has also come to a complete halt.
Relief rescue teams arrived from Asansol and Jhajha, work to repair the track continues on war footing.
As soon as information about the accident was received, the railway administration immediately came into action. Accident Relief Train (ART) and technical teams from Asansol, Madhupur and Jhajha were immediately rushed to the spot. Along with senior railway officials, RPF and local police force are also ready at the spot. At present, relief and rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing. The work of removing the damaged coaches and rebuilding the track is going on at a fast pace. East Central Railway officials have assured that the track will be repaired and traffic will be restored as soon as possible.
