East Pakistan shaken by fidayeen attack; 8 killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahbaz Sharif lost his sleep

Lahore: A suicide attack was carried out targeting a police post in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday. At least eight people, including six law enforcement personnel, were killed and several others injured in the attack. Who have been admitted to Miranshah Hospital for treatment. In which the condition of many is said to be critical. This is the reason why there is a possibility of increase in the number of deaths.

According to the information, this blast took place at Aslam Check Post in Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan. The terrorists riding on three-wheelers hit the check post and security forces vehicles. Eight people, including four policemen, two soldiers and two civilians, died in the incident. Many people injured in the blast have been admitted to Miran Shah Hospital.

Terrorism has increased in Pakistan since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Most terrorist incidents have been reported in the provinces bordering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Nearly a dozen terrorists were killed during anti-militancy operations by security forces in North Waziristan district this month.

Violent incidents increased by 90 percent

Earlier this month, the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) think tank published a report. The report said the third quarter of 2024 saw a sharp increase in terrorist violence and deaths in counter-terrorism operations, with violence in the country increasing by 90 percent.

The total deaths in the three quarters of this year were more than the total recorded in all of 2023, with 722 deaths, including civilians, security personnel and criminals. About 97 percent of these deaths occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the highest percentage in a decade.
