82 tons of sugarcane produced per acre in saline land where weeds did not grow! Read Which Method Used?

The same principle applies to every sector as it applies to agriculture as well. One has to work hard in agriculture, but if you work hard in the right direction, impossible things are possible even in agriculture. So now, by adding technology to labor, farmers are earning lakhs of income by producing on a large scale even in a small area.

Keeping this point in mind, if we look at the success story of the Salgar family of Borgaon in Valwa taluka, it is apt for this point. The Salgar family produced up to 82 tons of sugarcane in the saline soil where even weeds were difficult to grow. Let’s see how the Salgar family made this alchemy possible.

The Salgar family produced 82 tonnes of sugarcane per acre from the saline soil

The Salgar family of Borgaon in Valwa taluka built a porous drainage system on saline land and completely transformed their 9 acre farm. This entire land of theirs was such that only acacia trees could grow there and not even common weeds could grow there.

But on such land he got a sugarcane yield of 82 tonnes per acre and set an example for other farmers. Dhondiram Salgar and three brothers Tanaji Salgar and Babasaheb Salgar have land in Borgaon area of Walwa taluka and the whole land was barren due to saline.

But taking all the farmers in this area into confidence, through the former minister Jayantrao Patil, the government followed up with court to make all saline agriculture suitable for getting agricultural produce through porous drainage system.

But no help was provided through the government. But after this, the Salgar brothers did not give up and started efforts to make this land suitable for producing crops.

In this, he tried to grow different crops by filling two feet of Tambadi soil in his farm and failed in that too. Finally he spent himself and decided to set up a porous drainage project and a six inch PVC line on nine acres of land.

Four-inch perforated pipes were laid vertically, horizontally and front and side over the whole area and the saline water from it was carried from the main line through three chambers 2000 feet long to the brackish stream and for all this work. It cost him six lakh rupees and he himself paid the entire cost.

After that he started growing crops like gram and shalu in this field and when he got the produce of these crops then his experiment was successful. He then concentrated on improving the texture of the soil with crops like jute and after two years of doing all that he planted sugarcane. Today, he has harvested 82 tonnes of sugarcane per acre from this land and his hard work has now paid off.
