Delhi Capitals won lottery, bought it for Rs 8.40 crore thinking it was a bowler but the player scored a explosive century at number 8

29-year-old Aaqib Nabi batted brilliantly under pressure and scored his first List-A century and led Jammu and Kashmir to a memorable victory. When Nabi came to bat, there were only four wickets left but he chose to play with patience rather than panic about the conditions. He decided to stay at the crease till the end and as runs were scored, the team’s confidence also increased.

Nabi remained unbeaten till the end and scored 114 runs in 82 balls with the help of 10 fours and 7 sixes and also gave a memorable victory to Jammu and Kashmir by 3 wickets. During this, Nabi also thrashed Indian team’s star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj. Delhi Capitals bought him for Rs 8.40 crore in the mini auction of IPL 2026 and he has already shown before the IPL season that he can play an important role for his team not only with the ball but also with the bat.

Speaking after the match, Nabi said that he never paid attention to the scoreboard. His entire focus was on understanding the ball and playing the right shots. According to him, only when the team started getting closer to the target, he felt that this match could be won. Hyderabad’s fast bowlers initially troubled Jammu and Kashmir’s batsmen with bouncers. The pitch was providing extra bounce, due to which the top order collapsed quickly. However, by the time Nabi came to the crease, the fast bowlers had bowled many overs and the spin bowlers were brought in to bowl in between. The Prophet took advantage of this and got an opportunity to establish himself.
