This question echoed in Parliament also. A question was raised in the House whether the employees will get arrears under the 8th Pay Commission from January 1, 2026? The government has responded to this.

Will arrears of 8th Pay Commission be received from January 1?

The issue regarding implementation of the 8th Pay Commission was raised in the winter session of Parliament. Responding to this question, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said, ‘The government will decide the date of implementation of the 8th Pay Commission at the appropriate time.’ He further said- ‘After the recommendations of the Commission are accepted, necessary budgetary provisions will be made for it.’ After this reply of Minister Pankaj Chaudhary, it is believed that the government is trying to implement it soon, but it is not clear whether the arrears will be given from January 1.

When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented?

Let us tell you that the government had approved the Terms of Reference of the 8th Pay Commission in November 2025. Also, the commission has been given 18 months time to submit its report. According to this, the Commission’s report regarding the 8th pay scale is likely to come in mid-2027. After the report comes, the government’s recommendations will be reviewed. After this, approval will be received from the cabinet and notification of the new structure will be issued. This entire process may take additional time of 3 to 6 months.

How much salary will you get after 8th Pay Commission?

This can be understood with an example. If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 76,500, dearness allowance is Rs 44,370 and house rent allowance is Rs 22,950, then the total salary of one month comes to Rs 1,43,820. After salary revision, the basic salary may increase to around Rs 1,53,000. At the same time, house rent allowance can reach around Rs 41,310. That means the salary will be around Rs 1,94,310.
