8th Pay Commission: Big news for central employees, commission gave relief news

A very important news has come for lakhs of central government employees and pensioners. The 8th Pay Commission has decided to extend the last date for submission of memorandum. Earlier time for this was given till 31 May 2026, which has now been extended to 15 June 2026. In the latest statement issued by the Commission on May 29, it has been made clear that no further change will be made in the date after this. This means that any organization or union that wants to present its views has now got a few more days of extra time to register its demands.

Meanwhile, the 8th Pay Commission has also prepared the outline of its next big steps. In this connection, the Commission is going to visit Kolkata, West Bengal on 9th and 10th July 2026. In fact, the main objective of this two-day visit is to directly interact with various organizations, institutions, employee unions and associations of the Central Government. Through this meeting, the Commission will try to understand the expectations and demands of the employees at the ground level.

It is important to know this rule to attend Kolkata meeting

If you or your organization is based in West Bengal and wants to present your views before the Commission during this meeting, then a special procedure will have to be followed for this. It is being told that to get the appointment, applicants will have to show their ‘Unique Memo ID’. This ID is obtained when you visit the official website of the Commission (8cpc.gov.in) and submit your memorandum online.

The Commission has made it clear in a strict tone that memoranda will be accepted only through online medium. If any organization reaches the Commission’s office physically i.e. with a hard copy, it will not be considered. At present, information about where the meeting will be held and what will be its final schedule will be sent separately to the shortlisted stakeholders later.

Commission will also visit Srinagar and Ladakh

Before going to Kolkata, the Commission is also going to visit other parts of the country. As per the schedule, the 8th Pay Commission will visit Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir from June 1 to June 4, 2026. Immediately after this, on June 8, 2026, the Commission team will reach the Union Territory of Ladakh to communicate with the employees and stakeholders working there.

Why is this exercise of 8th Pay Commission special?

In fact, the Central Government has constituted this commission to review the salary structure, allowances and pension related benefits of government employees and pensioners. The commission has 18 months to submit its final recommendations. This is the reason why these meetings are being held in different parts of the country, so that the problems of every section can be included in the report. After the implementation of these recommendations, there may be a big change in the salary and pension of lakhs of central employees and retired people of the country.
