8th Pay Commission: Central employees are in trouble! Salary will increase by 70%

A very big news is coming for the central employees. The stir regarding the 8th Pay Commission, which has been in discussion for a long time, has intensified. Continuous meetings of the Commission are going on with employee organizations and unions, after which the expectations of a huge increase in salary have become stronger. The only question in everyone’s mind is how much will be the increase in salaries this time? Although an official announcement is yet to be made, the proposals from employee organizations have created a stir in the market.

Not only the fitment factor, these allowances will also be of great benefit. The salary increase will not be limited to fitment factor only. According to experts, Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance (TA) will also play a big role in the total salary of the employees. Employee organizations claim that if the government accepts all the proposals given by them, then there can be a jump of more than 70 percent in the total salary. This is why central employees are keeping a close eye on these proposals.

Big change in salary of level-1 employees The proposal put forward by the All India National Public Sector Employees Federation (AINPSEF) and other unions to the government is really shocking. According to this suggestion, the salary of Level-1 employees of X-category, which is currently around Rs 37,080, can directly increase to Rs 63,500. That means there is a possibility of a huge increase of about 71 percent. However, it is important to clarify that this is only a suggestion of the unions, the final decision hinges on the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission and the approval of the Central Government.

What demands have been put forward? The unions have also placed their major demands before the Pay Commission:

  • Merger of DA: Before the implementation of the new pay scale, a demand has been made to add dearness allowance to the basic salary.
  • Amendments to HRA: It has been proposed to increase the existing rates of House Rent Allowance (30%, 20% and 10%) to 36%, 24% and 12% respectively, to provide relief in the rising expenses.
  • Transport Allowance: Due to rising inflation, a substantial increase in traveling allowance has also been demanded.

Round of meetings continue, waiting for decision The 8th Pay Commission is rapidly holding meetings to take suggestions from employee organizations across the country. Recently the meeting was held in Bhubaneswar on 6th and 7th July, and now the next round is proposed in Kolkata on 9th and 10th July. Earlier, discussions had been held with the employees in Delhi and Lucknow also. At present brainstorming on all these suggestions is going on. After the final recommendations are prepared, when they will be sent to the Central Government, then only the picture of change in salary will be completely clear.
