News agency IANS has quoted industry experts as saying that after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, the salary of central government employees may increase by 25-30 percent and pension may increase proportionately. “The fitment factor for the 8th Pay Commission is likely to be between 2.6 to 2.85, which will potentially lead to a 25-30 per cent increase in salary and proportionate increase in pension,” IANS quoted Neeti Sharma, CEO, TeamLease Digital, as saying. The minimum basic salary is expected to exceed Rs 40,000, with allowances, perks and performance pay also increasing.
7th Pay Commission Recommendation: Minimum/Maximum Pay Increase
The 7th Pay Commission had increased the minimum salary to Rs 18,000 per month and the maximum salary to Rs 2,50,000 per month. The 7th Pay Commission had also recommended a new pay matrix instead of the grade pay system, which focused on perks and work-life balance.
