Hopes of government employees dashed! Government’s big statement on 8th Pay Commission, ‘clear denial’ created a stir
8th Pay Commission Latest Update: Expectations have increased across the country regarding the Eighth Pay Commission. But meanwhile, a reply by the government in the Rajya Sabha has given a big blow to the employees of the Central Autonomous Bodies. The government has made it clear that at present no new scheme or proposal is under consideration for such employees to give posting to husband and wife at the same station (8th pay commission spouse posting policy).
In response to the question of RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the government had issued instructions to give posting to husband and wife at the same station through the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) order dated September 30, 2009. But this facility is applicable only in cases where one of the spouses is in central government service.
Employees will not get the facility!
The government clearly said that at present no proposal is under consideration of the government to extend this policy to Centrally Funded Autonomous or Legal Entities. This means that it is clear that thousands of married employees working in hundreds of central autonomous institutions across the country will still not get this facility.
Employees Federation raised questions
National President of All India NPS Employees Federation, Dr. Manjit Singh Patel gave a strong reaction to this reply. He said that it is extremely unfortunate that till date the employees of Central Autonomous Bodies have not been able to get the facility of transfer to work at the same station on spouse basis and the government does not seem ready to even consider it.
He raised the question that when officers working in different cadres like IAS, IPS, DANICS and DANIPS can also get transfer on spouse ground, then what is the problem in giving posting at one station to couples working in different autonomous organizations working under the same ministry.
Raised demands for employees
Dr. Patel urged the government to achieve ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’. Reminding of campaigns like One Nation One Ration, One Nation One Pension (OROP) and One Country One Legislation, big decisions can be taken, then making a similar transfer policy for the employees of autonomous institutions should not be a difficult task.
