8th Pay Commission: Salary going to double to triple? fitment factor leak

The wait for good news for central employees is now at its peak! There is only one discussion everywhere from government corridors to employee unions regarding the 8th Pay Commission – what will be the fitment factor this time? Because the bumper increase in salary depends on this one number. The fitment factor in the 7th Pay Commission was 2.57, which directly increased the minimum salary from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000. Now three big numbers are under discussion in the 8th Commission – 1.92, 2.08 and 2.86!

How is salary determined by fitment factor?

It is very simple – the new basic salary is calculated by multiplying your existing basic salary by the fitment factor. The bigger the factor, the more money in your pocket! If the highest factor is taken to be 2.86, then the current minimum basic salary of Rs 18,000 will directly reach Rs 51,480. That means a profit of Rs 33,000+ in one go!

What can be the salary at different levels?

If the highest fitment factor 2.86 is implemented then this could be the new salary range:

Level-1 (Group D employees): Now 18,000 → New salary from Rs 34,560 to 51,480 Level-3 (Group C employees): Now 21,700 → New salary from Rs 41,664 to 62,062 Level-6 (Group B employees): Now 35,400 → New salary from Rs 67,968 Level-10 (Group A Officer) up to Rs 1,01,244: Now Rs 56,100 → New salary Rs 1,07,712 to Rs 1,60,446

This means that the salary of a level-1 employee can also cross Rs 50 thousand!

Not just basic salary, everything will increase!

If there is a good fitment factor, then not only the basic pay will increase, but the dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA), travel allowance, gratuity and pension will also increase in the same proportion. Meaning a huge increase in total in-hand salary!

Decision still pending, but there is a lot of hope

At present, no official announcement of the 8th Pay Commission has been made by the government. Experts say that the decision will be taken keeping in mind the inflation, economic condition of the country and the budget. But employee unions are loudly demanding the highest fitment factor of 2.86. Now it remains to be seen how big a gift the government gives to the employees!
