8th Pay Commission: What will be the new salary of ₹35,400 basic pay people?
New Delhi. Salary increase of central employees is always an important news for the public and employees. Amidst the preparations for the 8th Pay Commission, the discussion is in full swing regarding the new salary of those with basic pay of ₹ 35,400. Its basis is the Fitment Factor, which decides the new salary by increasing the existing basic salary.
What is fitment factor?
Fitment factor is a coefficient which is multiplied by the existing basic pay to decide the new basic salary. The formula is simple: New Basic Salary = Existing Basic Pay × Fitment Factor. In the 7th Pay Commission this factor was 2.57. For example, at that time the minimum basic salary had increased from ₹7,000 to ₹18,000.
Possible increase in 8th Pay Commission
In the 8th Pay Commission, three major estimates regarding fitment factor have come out: 1.92, 2.08 and 2.86. This will decide what the new salary of the employees will be. If the fitment factor is 2.86, the minimum wage may increase from ₹18,000 to about ₹51,480.
Example: ₹35,400 basic pay salary
Fitment Factor 1.92: ₹67,968
Fitment Factor 2.08: ₹73,632
Fitment Factor 2.86: ₹1,01,244
After the implementation of the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission, the basic salary of government employees is expected to increase significantly. This will depend on the fitment factor and will significantly improve the financial condition of the employees.
