8th Pay Commission: What will be the salary of 4200 grade payers? Know the full estimate

New Delhi. Discussions have intensified regarding the proposed 8th Pay Commission for central employees. Especially the employees with 4200 grade pay (level-6) have a question in their mind as to what their new salary can be. There is no official announcement at this time, but the salary is being estimated based on various possible fitment factors.

What is the current salary?

Currently, under the 7th Pay Commission, the starting basic salary of Level-6 (4200 grade-pay) employees is ₹ 35,400. The new salary is being calculated considering this as the basis.

New salary will be decided by fitment factor

Fitment factor will play the most important role in the 8th Pay Commission. This is the same coefficient by which the new salary is determined by multiplying the existing basic salary.

Estimates based on possible fitment factors are as follows:

1.83 Fitment Factor (Minimum Estimate):New basic salary around ₹64,872

2.28 Fitment Factor (Medium Estimate):New basic salary around ₹80,712

2.57 Fitment Factor (as in old pattern):New basic salary around ₹90,978

2.86 Fitment Factor (High Estimate):New basic salary around ₹1,01,244

It is clear from these figures that there may be a big jump in the basic salary of employees.

What can be the gross salary?

Apart from basic salary, employees also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Traveling Allowance (TA). According to experts, adding all these together the total gross salary can reach around ₹1.15 lakh to ₹1.20 lakh.

Expected date of implementation

The 8th Pay Commission is expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026. At present the government is considering the suggestions and the demands of employee organizations are also being included in this process.
