The Modi government, committed to the upliftment of farmers, has reduced the export duty on onion from 40% to 20%. Due to the reduction in export duty, onion farmers will get better prices for onions and onion exports will increase. This decision of the government will also directly benefit farmers and other sectors related to onion.

Import duty on cooking oil has been increased from 0% to 20%. Increasing import duty will increase the price of soybean crop; it will encourage edible oil producers to buy the crop from local farmers. This will ensure a fair price for the crop of farmer brothers and sisters. This decision will increase the production of soybean and will also increase exports. Other sectors related to soy will also benefit.

The Modi government has decided to increase the basic duty on refined oil by 32.5 percent. This will result in increased demand for refined oil from mustard, sunflower and groundnut crops. Farmers will get better prices for these crops and increasing refineries in small and rural areas will also increase employment opportunities there. Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for such important decisions.”
