Lattu Controversy Background: In Andhra Pradesh, the Devasthanam Trustee Board appointed during the previous Jaganmohan Reddy regime bought ghee from 5 companies at very low prices, i.e. Rs 320 to Rs 411 per kg. Among them, AR Dairy Food Company of Dindigul has been supplying ghee to Tirupati Devasthanam for the last 5 years.

Due to this, the quality of Lattu has deteriorated a lot. Although devotees have been complaining about this, no action was taken by the previous government. In such a situation, there was a change of power in Andhra Pradesh and Chandrababu Naidu became the Chief Minister. After this, Devasthanam Executive Officer Shyamal Rao has taken cognizance of the complaint of the quality of Tirupati Lattu Prasadam. While Chandrababu Naidu had ordered to conduct tests in this regard, the ghee was sent to the NDTB Testing Center in Gujarat last July for testing.

At the end of the investigation, it was found that the ghee was adulterated. According to the test report, fish oil, cow and pig fat are mixed in this ghee. Investigation ordered: Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam to immediately submit an explanatory report on the issue of animal fat in Tirupati Lattu Prasad.
