India once again provided emergency funds to Maldives stuck in financial crisis.

Some ministers of Maldives have criticized Prime Minister Modi's visit to Lakshadweep. India condemned it. India-Maldives relations have been affected due to these issues. In such a situation, when Prime Minister Modi took oath for the third time last June, Maldives President Mohammed Muisu attended the ceremony. Then Foreign Minister Jaishankar visited Maldives last month to clear the misunderstanding between the two countries. At present Maldives is facing serious financial crisis. Maldives' tourism revenue has declined after the Corona crisis. The loan value increased to $8 billion.

Last year, India provided emergency funding of $50 million to Maldives. In such a situation, Maldives has requested to increase this financial assistance for government expenditure this year also. Subsequently, India has extended the financing of $50 million provided by the State Bank of India for another year.
