The National Conference-Congress alliance won the three-phase assembly elections for a total of 90 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir. National Conference won 42 seats, Congress won 6 and Marxist won one seat. In such a situation, 4 independents and one MLA from Aam Aadmi Party supported this alliance, due to which the strength of the alliance in the assembly increased to 54.

Subsequently, Omar Abdullah was elected as the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly National Conference. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Convention Hall in Srinagar yesterday. Omar Abdullah took oath as the Chief Minister and prominent National Conference leader Surendra Kumar Choudhary took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered him the oath of office.

National Conference Party has formed the government in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. After Omar Abdullah, National Conference Party members Javed Ahmedurana, Javed Ahmed Dar, Sagina Ittu and Satish Sharma took oath as ministers. On behalf of Congress, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul, General Secretary Priyanka, former Chief Minister and People's Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti participated.

Omar's instructions to the police: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has issued new instructions to the police after taking oath as the Chief Minister. In this regard, Chief Minister Omar has said in his X-site: When the Chief Minister, Ministers and VIPs come out on the streets, the police should stop the traffic and harass the public.

At the same time, I have also emphasized that the inconvenience caused to the public should be minimized. Sounding of sirens in vehicles will also be reduced. My ministers will also follow this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Omar Abdul Law on becoming the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
